Today, tumour tissue dissection is a painstaking, manual process. Pathologists pen-mark Regions of Interest (ROI) on Hematoxylin & Eosin stained slides. Laboratory technicians then map these ROIs visually to dissection slides, manually scrape the tissue and place it in small containers. This is delicate difficult to control process with a risk of variability and cross-contamination.

Xyall’s Automated Tissue Dissection (ATD) solution digitizes and automates the tissue dissection workflow and enables accurate Region of Interest (ROIs) determination and dissection.
Our solution scans Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) stained slides and dissection slides at the right magnification, helping the pathologist annotate ROIs more easily. These ROIs on the H&E image are then automatically transferred and mapped to the dissection slides using the latest image registration technologies.
Once ready, ROIs are dissected automatically by scraping with high precision using a robotic dissector. The tumour tissue is finally placed in standardized containers, ready to be processed in downstream sample prep for the diagnostic test of choice.
